Kamila Otrubová, a gold level DofE participant, leaves to conquer the largest challenge of her life today. In the following days she will try to climb the tallest mountain of the Caucasus and of Russia, the Elbrus. To make her challenge even harder, once she reaches the top, she will also attempt to ski down on Alpine skies.
DofE participants from grammar schools in Plzeň are getting ready for an adventurous expedition to Himalayas.

Ten students of grammar schools in Plzeň, aged 15 to 19, who are all DofE participants are together with their friend Jan Krauskopf, who is wheel chair user, getting ready for their expedition in Ladakh in Indian Himalayas this summer. During their expedition, which is planned between the 10th August to 1st September 2016, they plan to shoot a documentary film and they also aim to meet with His Holiness Dalai Lama.

Eliška Kojanová, eighteen-year-old Gold Award Participant from České Budějovice, is living proof that you can go for a long-term stay abroad already before your school-leaving examination. Inspired by her big sister Anna, who had a similar experience in Taiwan, she decided to go on a student exchange to Peru. As a result, she is spending this entire school year in South America through Rotary International.

The Traveler’s Club by the Masaryk gymnasium in Plzeň went to Armenia for their DofE Gold Expedition, called Nairi 2014. Thanks to the expedition, the participants now have substantial part of the Gold Award requirements done. Read more about where they went and how it was.

The Těrlicko children’s home, an experienced DofE Award Unit, together with the Adam Havířov foundation prepared a summer camp for autistic children, which is in progress now. As part of the camp there are activities to get to know the DofE Award.

Lucie Leišová, being merely 18 years old, fulfilled her dream of crossing the Strait of Gibraltar today. She conquered the 25,5 km long swim early this afternoon. This great feat made her the fourth and youngest Czech to successfully get to the other side, as well as the second youngest European. The young swimmer was supported in her conviction by the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award (DofE), which helps young people stay motivated, fulfill their own goals and overcome life's challenges.

In 2013, anti-Roma demonstrations took place at the Máj housing estate in České Budějovice where Roma families and other underprivileged families live. That is why the students of the J.V. Jirsík Grammar School in České Budějovice taking part in the DofE Award, which includes also long-term voluntary activities, have prepared a project that aims to show that things could go differently there.

This year’s DofE Adventurous Journeys season has started with the Gold Adventurous Journey of the J.V. Jirsík Grammar School from České Budějovice to Israel. During the journey, seven students discovered the history of the Negev Desert, sleeping in tents. Despite some difficulties that come with journeys in this country, the journey was successful, so the students have moved a step closer to obtaining their DofE Gold Award.

In the second half of September, the English College in Prague – Anglické gymnázium organised the first Gold adventurous journey of the DofE Award. Its participants covered nearly 80 kilometres using three means of transport – canoeing, in-line skating and walking. This is a great example of adventurous journey. Compliments go to the entire team and the assessor of the adventurous journey.
