The two-day visit of Her Royal Highness will include, amongst other events, the presentation of Gold Awards and a visit to a Prague secondary school that takes part in the Czech programme of The Duke of Edinburgh´s International Award.
Since 2013, The Countess of Wessex has been Global Ambassador of The Duke of Edinburgh´s International Award. The Countess has a strong commitment to promoting the work and need of organisations that focus on helping and improving opportunities for children and young people.
The Countess of Wessex plays a valuable part in raising awareness of the Award and the impact that it has on young people and their communities around the world. Her Royal Highness visited the Czech Republic two years ago with her husband, HRH The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex, himself a Gold Award holder and Trustee of The Duke of Edinburgh's International Award Foundation. During next month’s visit, The Countess will be meeting Award participants and supporters at a number of events.
Executive Director of the Award in the Czech Republic, Ondřej Lochman is very pleased by the Award’s development in the country and is delighted by the visit of Her Royal Highness, “During 2014, more than 1000 young people from various secondary schools, children’s and youth clubs and children’s homes participated in the Award. Thirty of them will now have the honour of receiving their Gold Award directly from Her Royal Highness”.
