Last week, over 200 young people received the prestigious Duke of Edinburgh´s International Award. The Award ceremonies (on 25 January and 3 February) were attended by participants from all parts of the Czech Republic, from all types of educational institutions, such as international schools, grammar schools, vocational schools, youth centres and children’s homes. There were also personalities supporting the Award in the Czech Republic, directors of the institutions involved in providing the Award, leaders and teachers, education specialists and parents of the participants.

The 2015 National Event proves a success. Thanks to everyone for participating The 2015 National Event of The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award was held last weekend. The two days were packed with experiences, interesting personalities, workshops and getting to know other colleagues. The event took place on 16 and 17 October at the Semerink Hotel in the beautiful Jizerské Mountains and was attended by over fifty Award volunteers and young people from the Czech and Slovak Republics.

This year, it will take place on 16-17 October in the beautiful Janov nad Nisou. The National Event is open to all volunteers that are active in providing of the DofE Award. You can look forward to indoors and outdoors get-together and teambuilding activities, sharing experiences, possibility to consult with members of the National Office, and practical information and news about the Award.

The DofE Alumni enjoyed a beautiful, enriching and active day in Poděbrady on 5 September. During the annual meeting of the DofE Alumni Club, they also celebrated the 15th anniversary of the DofE Award in DDM Poděbrady.

Almost fifty young people received The Duke of Edinburgh´s Award last Friday. At the official ceremony were honored not only students from all over the country, but also youngsters from orphanages. They earned the prestigious Awards by their sport achievements, patient skills development, diverse volunteering within service activities and surviving an adventurous expedition.

Tomorrow Her Royal Highness The Countess of Wessex, GCVO, will arrive in Prague. Her Royal Highness can look forward to a rich two-day programme allowing her to meet dozens of youngsters and educators participating in The Duke of Edinburgh´s International Award (DofE Award). The Countess will conclude her visit with a ceremony during which she will present up to 40 successful DofE participants with their Gold Award.

More than 30 young people from the DofE Award Units got the chance to meet members of the England Under-21 squad earlier in March thanks to an invitation from the British Embassy, a proud partner of the Czech DofE Award. The event was amply covered by the media.

Do you want to take your expedition skills to a whole new level and venture abroad? Then you cannot miss the opportunity to join the two interesting events hosted by our colleagues in Lithuania. They are preparing an expedition and training course for the international DofE Award community and the Czech Awardees, DofE Award Leaders, Expedition Supervisors and Trainers are welcome.

Thanks to our cooperation with the British Chamber of Commerce, we can regularly participate in events promoting British culture and companies in the regions of the Czech Republic. These events usually include a raffle whose proceeds go to our organization to support the DofE participants from socially disadvantaged groups. At the British Day in Eastern Bohemia, the DofE Award could raise CZK 6,050, but also forge useful contacts that can help expand the DofE Award.
