The start of the school year is often the time when the DofE Award welcomes new schools and youth organizations. That is why we have prepared eight trainings for teachers and youth workers that enable them to join the DofE Award this fall.

The British Chamber of Commerce is supporting the Czech DofE by giving its National Office free entry and an opportunity for fundraising at the Chamber’s events. Apart from the British Day in Plzeň mentioned earlier, the DofE had an opportunity to join the BCC Golf tournament in Ostrava at Konopiště.

Last week we handed over a check in the amount of CZK 7,400 gathered for youngsters from the orphanage in Těrlicko at the British Day in Pilsen organized by the British Chamber of Commerce (BCC). It happened on the occasion of a ceremony at which successful youngsters from this and other orphanages recieved their Bronze Awards. The money will help the youngsters to pay facilities for their Adventurous Journeys which are part of the DofE scheme.

The Czech DofE Award Fund was launched last year. Now, for the second time, it will award financial support to young people with fewer opportunities that was requested by organisations providing the DofE Award. A total of 87,600 CZK (over 3,000 EUR) will go to several dozens of young people from twelve schools, leisure centres and non-profit organisations to help them reach their goals.

The start of the year is always a good opportunity to look back at the previous year and set goals for the new year. Looking back and forward brings great joy to the DofE Award so we bring you a summary of last year’s events and our plans for 2014.
25. November 2013
On Sunday 24th November 2013 the Czech DofE Award Alumni Club got founded as a conclusion of the International Gold Award Holders Meeting in Prague, hosted by Czech DofE Award's National Office in order to give the Award Holders the opportunity to learn from each other. There are already well developped Alumni Clubs gathering Gold Award Holders in coutries like Ireland and the Netherlands, while other countries are going to start them too.

In late October and early November 2013, the staff of the National Office was busy, signing agreements on the providing of the Duke of Edinburg’s International Award with 8 Award Units.
11. November 2013
We are trying to obtain donations to the DofE Award Fund, whose goal is to support the Award participants. On 1 November, the Fund became 30,000 crowns richer thanks to the British Chamber of Commerce.
5. October 2013
Three trainings preparing teachers and volunteers for their roles in providing the DofE Award to young people took place in September. There were trained nearly fifty people from around twenty organisations, some of which are newly joining the DofE Award.
10. June 2013
Seven trainings overall took place in April and May. During those, people from both new and already functioning Award Units gained not only new knowledge but also pleasant experiences and valuable contacts. Institutions with proper DofE Award trainings have now begun signing operational agreements with the National Office which were created in cooperation with the International Award Foundation.
