During the three days, the young people were motivated to meet life’s challenges and find their own way, by attending lectures given by interesting personalities that have achieved this, and through activities during which the participants surpassed their limits together. They could also develop their skills during workshops on juggling, bagpipe playing or photography, and learned about interesting opportunities for voluntary work in the Youth in Action programme, INEX – Association for Voluntary Activities and the Liberec Non-Profit Organization (LOS). Exciting were activities on high ropes.
In the meantime, their leaders could share their experiences with the DofE Award and working with young people in general, obtain new information on the Award from the National Office and broaden their horizons during a workshop on PR and communication and a lecture by adventurer Dan Přibáň, who crossed three continents in a Trabant.
The meeting of over fifty students and teachers participating in the Duke of Edinburg’s International Award took place in the beautiful surroundings of the Jizera Mountains Nature Conservation Area, in the Semmerink Hotel. It is no coincidence that the meeting was held in the Liberec Region as the Award, also thanks to the support by Governor Martin Půta and Dan Přibáň, is now expanding its network of Award Units in the Region.
In the past, no schools from the Liberec Region were active in the DofE Award, but in November at least five of them will join the Award. The arrival of the Award in the Liberec Region will be supported by a series of discussions in which young people will meet Dan Přibáň, author of the project By Trabant Through South America. The DofE Award is preparing the discussions together with the Nisa Euroregion.
