Start with DofE
Applying to the DofE programme
You can undertake DofE either at a school (or in another participating organisation) involved in DofE. If your school doesn’t offer the DofE programme, don’t worry! You can apply to DofE online, which is basically the same thing. We’ll just assign you a mentor from somewhere other than your school. In addition, the implementation of the programme is exactly the same. Check the application form to see which option applies to you.
Thank you, your application has been sent successfully.
If you don’t get the confirmation e-mail within a few minutes, check your SPAM and BULK folders.
A DofE coordinator from your school (organization) will contact you soon.
I already know about DofE and want to start now.

I want to know more.
(we will guide you through the sign-up process step by step)
1. What is DofE and what can it do for you?
DofE is a challenge for everyone between 14 to 24 years of age, thanks to which you will be forced to work on yourself regularly. Get involved in a Skill, Physical Recreation and Volunteering that you choose yourself and will participate in for an hour a week. At the end, an Adventurous Journey with your friends awaits you. Thanks to DofE, you will improve in things you enjoy, you will find time to help others, you will gain great experience that will be useful in future life, and you will receive an internationally recognised certificate under the auspices of the British Royal Family.
2. What are 4 parts of DofE?
You can also choose from activities you already participate in, but want to improve in. In each area you set yourself a goal that you try to reach. Are you interested in more specific examples? Check out: Příležitosti or dobrovolnik.cz .
Volunteering
While volunteering, you can work on yourself, but also help others. You will need to develop your tolerance, responsibility, and patience. Volunteering is not only tutoring your classmates, but also cleaning the forest, working with children, helping in a food bank and much more. You can ask your Leader about other volunteering options.
Examples of activities
Physical Recreation
Doing a Physical Recreation activity will help you improve your performance and your health. Maybe you can work on your teamwork during volleyball, or meet new people during skating. You don’t have to be the best and win medals left and right, but you should want to push yourself a little further. You can also learn to live a healthier life.
Examples of activities
Skill
There are a lot of options to choose from in this area. From playing a music instrument or studying foreign languages to cooking or programming. You will set achievable goals, thus improve yourself, work on your talent, or acquire completely new skills. An important thing is that you will enjoy it.
Examples of activities
Adventurous Journey
The Adventurous Journey is a challenge for you to overcome the fear of the unknown, as well as an opportunity to get out of the town for a few days with your friends, discover interesting places in the Czech Republic or abroad. The Adventurous Journey always has its purpose, for example mapping out the forgotten places, collecting plants (for your herbarium), or going down the river.
Examples of activities
3. What levels can you choose from?
- You participate in all 3 activities for a minimum of 3 months. Then you must choose one of these 3 to continue for a further 3 months.
- You will complete a team-oriented Adventurous Journey through nature for 2 days (1 night).
- You participate in the 3 activities for a minimum of 6 months. If you’re not a Bronze Award holder, you choose one to pursue for 6 more months.
- You will complete a team-oriented Adventurous Journey through nature for 3 days (2 nights).
- You will participate in the activities for a minimum of 12 months. If you’re not a Silver Award holder, you choose one to pursue for 6 more months.
- You will complete a team-oriented Adventurous Journey through nature for 4 days (3 nights). You will spend 5 days (4 nights) on your Residential Project either in Czech Republic or abroad.
4. How long does it take and how much does it cost?
You devote 1 hour a week to each of the activities. Altogether, DofE will take you 3 hours a week to complete depending on what level you chose. You cannot work ‘overtime’ and try to finish your selected level by working more hours in a day, what’s important is the regularity and routine and your ability to stick to doing your chosen activity. Of course, if you go on vacation or do not catch up on any missed hours, nothing happens, but the hours you missed will be added on and it will take longer to finish the programme. At the end, an Adventurous Journey with friends awaits you.
How much will it cost? It depends on the level you choose.

5. How do you choose your goals?
Your Leader will help you choose your goals, guide you through the whole programme, coach/mentor you. Together you will set goals and he will help you all the way to the ceremony and certificate.
6. Find out if your school offers DofE.
So, that’s all you need to know about DofE. All that remains is to find out if your school is a part of DofE or if you will join DofE online.

7. You become a DofE member the moment you register for ORB. How to register?

That’s what our online app is for, we call it the Online Record Book (ORB). It is there so you can track your progress for each activity every week. Just briefly describe what you did and attach a photo, video or whatever you have at your disposal. With each entry, you add one hour in your timeline, so you can see how far along your level you are. The ORB can also be accessed by your Leader, who can see your activities and monitor your progress.
When registering for the ORB, you will need to indicate whether you are over or under 18 years old.
If you’re over 18
If you are over 18 years old, you will fill in all the required fields, confirm your registration with the link that you will receive in your e-mail and you will be redirected to make the payment.
If you are under 18 – you need the consent of a parent or guardian to register.
If you are under 18, we will first need the consent of your guardian or parent for you to take part in the programme. It’s simple. When registering, add their email. They will receive a request for consent to your participation in the programme. After they give us their consent, we redirect them to make the payment. When the payment is in our system, we will connect you with your Leader.
DofE is a challenge that is completed annually by thousands of young people from 130 countries around the world. Join them, it’s worth it! And if you feel that you can’t handle anything, everything can always be solved. We look forward to seeing you!
